I've officially gone digital. As a millennial growing up during the birth of the internet, I still remember Live Journal and Xanga. I'm sure the musings of my middle school friends are out there somewhere! As an older millennial, there are still many technological advancements that I have either ignored or slowly integrated. into my life. I think I have a Twitter but only use it to search very specific things like #MSWL. I have waited so long to join the Twitter world that I'm pretty sure Twitter is dead now. Right?! TikTok is a whole new thing to wrap my brain around. Again, one of those things I have an account for, but don't actually do anything with. Maybe I'll figure it out before it dies too.
I've spent most of my life feeling like I'm okay or decent at a number of things - not good, and definitely not great. This means I often keep most of those things pretty private. I'll belt out musical theatre numbers in the car and shower, but it took a long time to get up on a karaoke stage in front of strangers.
It's time I find my own voice. It won't be right for everyone, but it's mine. I've spent years trying not to take up space and disappear into the background. It is not lost on me that my day job revolves around other people's voices and making myself unobtrusive. Maybe it's a midlife crisis, or maybe it's time to find my own voice.
Now, I have this shiny new website and blog. It feels quite peculiar to put myself out there on the World Wide Web for anyone to see the creative things I've made and read the things I've written. EEK!
