EEEK! The results of the KCU Pitchfest were announced earlier today and while I was not a winner, I'm honored to be a part of such an incredible community of talented folks.
I highly recommend checking out this year's gallery. It's fun to see what creative people are up to and see the beginnings of a project. While you're there, you can find my pitch for VEXED & HEXED in the showcase of the top 50 pitches! I am utterly shocked.
My brain is on the perpetual teeter-toyter between thinking my art and story are good enough (therefore this new journey is a worthy endeavor) and the opposite end of the spectrum thinking my art and story are trash meaning I'm an imposter for even trying. Thinking in absolutes is a key feature of my brain. It's fun. I constantly have to remind myself of the valuable moments found in between the absolutes. I decided to commit to putting together all of the elements for this pitch event for 2 separate ideas. The second one came together in less than 2 weeks and it made the top 50! My goal was to make the cut-off to be included in the gallery and that happened. I'm going to enjoy the dopamine while it lasts!
Using the elements from the pitch event, I had a great start for developing my actual pitch packet. I may have gone a bit overboard in the design and layout, but putting it all together has been fun!

It's nearly time to send it off to query agents and as hard as it was waiting to find out about the KCU pitchfest gallery, waiting to hear back about query submissions is going to be more tormenting.
