A Playwright too?
After wondering when the resident playwright at my local community theater would write a play for all of the talented actresses showing up to auditions. I soon realized, I didn't have to wait for him to write it because... I could.
Within a month, by the end of January 2026, I finished my first full-length play. It unlocked something. By the end of February, I had a second full-length play. In March, I started two more plays, one completed in March the other in April. I planned on spending May revising but ended up writing another full-length play. For June, I decided to start a social media account to document my playwriting process and completed the play in 14 days. Then wrote a 10-minute play for fun. My brain already wants to expand it.
A play a month is pretty ambitious, but I'm having fun while the creativity lasts.
EVERYTHING'S FINE by Nikki Harwood

LAUGHING ALL THE WAY is a domestic dark comedy meets Christmas farce inspired by some true stories but altered for dramatic and theatrical impact, of course. (3M/4W ... And 1 wild electric scooter)
The seed that started this play was the Christmas Eve we received a call from 911 when my mother-in-law went on a joy ride on her electric scooter to the nearest Total Wine instead of coming over for a family dinner. She got lost on her way home and the scooter battery died in front of a random family's home interrupting their holiday and ours.

When a group of estranged siblings reunite at their childhood beach house to settle their parent's estate, long buried secrets and actual bones are unearthed. The family must confront truths about who they are where they came from while braving the lore and legacy their parents left behind.

Who's the Silly Goose by Nikki Harwood
Forced to hide an affair while her husband was dying, Betty withdrew from her family into an online romance bubble. When her daughters and sister surprise her with a cruise to reconnect, Betty continues to be distracted by the man on her phone until she meets the comedian she loves and reveals their secret, year-long affair in the middle of his show. Unfortunately, he's oblivious and the footage of her humiliation goes viral meaning she's stuck at sea navigating the stares of fellow passengers, her family's reactions, and the shame left in the wreckage of her shattered fantasy.

An Antiquated Murder by Nikki Harwood
When fictional characters begin disappearing from the Magical Story Archives, the Storyteller and his daughter gather a team of fairy-tale archetypes and coming-of-age tropes to solve the mystery. But when the suspects evolve beyond the roles they were written to fulfill, their new identities threaten the very tales that wove them. As tropes collide, the Storyteller must decide whether clinging to old characters is worth sacrificing an entirely new story.
A play that starts as a whimsical Murder Mystery and transforms into a metafictional fantasy (4W/4M).
