What Did I Get Myself Into?!

The Kids Comics Studio Anthology has been one of the single best hands-on learning experiences ever.
Last year, when committee assignments were discussed, I thought Editorial or Design Committees would be the best fit for my existing skill set. Since I deal with a heavy dose of imposter syndrome and knew nothing about marketing or crowdfunding, I couldn't envision how I could support the Marketing Committee. However, most creators were avoiding marketing, and it was where the most people were needed. Janna Morishima, founder of Kids Comics Unite gave a great pitch and swayed me (and a few others) to join the marketing team.
I went into this project feeling like an imposter, but I will definitely be walking away from this project with a variety of new skills.
The Nitty-Gritty Skills
Utilizing Notion to organize and present complex information in user friendly ways
Developed a Directory Database on Notion
Spreadsheets to track data with conditional formatting too!
Social Media Content Planning
Presenting in all-hands meetings, and to Publishing Committee
The Creative Skills
Producing a majority of social media graphics and content and posting to a variety of platforms.
As someone that has always been a late adopter of new social media and didn't have a solid personal social media presence before this project, this is probably one of the best things to be gaining from being involved in the anthology.
Turning the Kids Comics Studio Logo into a logo for the anthology and utilizing existing Kids Comics Unite mascots into anthology specific graphics.
How cool did these turn out?!
Creating the mascot ant, Holly G. (get it?!)
Creating lots of 4-panel comics featuring the various mascots

It's fun to see how the 4-panel mascot comics have evolved!
Nominated to join the cover committee (What a HUGE honor!)
Working with 2 other incredible illustrators with years of experience and education, I know that "my" cover isn't going to be the chosen one, but I'm pretty proud of the work I've done on the cover illustration.
I'm obsessed with the title treatment I designed. It may be one of the coolest things I've ever made.
The initial cover concept and some early title treatment concepts.
The Comic Skills
Created an 8-page comic fitting the theme brief with character arc and featuring a story I enjoyed writing and illustrating.
Going through the editing process
Inking
Lettering and creating a font
Coloring
I'm excited that some of my deadlines are fast approaching which means less chaos on the horizon. Especially because I went and auditioned for another community theater production at Love Street Playhouse and was offered a role! This time I convinced the hubby to join me, and he was also offered a role. We get to be in a show together!
Until I make the next update, enjoy this 4-panel peek into my experience working on the Kids Comics Studio Anthology and know that I would gladly do it again.
