Remember When...
Normal NOT Normal is a webcomic that depicts the stories of unusual moments from my hubby's childhood with my own experiences sprinkled in. Eventually, maybe a few anecdotes with our own amazing Autistic kiddos that see the world just a little less "normal."
Life is full of normal, everyday moments, but sometimes, we need to be reminded - that's not normal!
Join us as we use humor to process it all.
*Disclaimer: Memories are fallible and this is for entertainment!
Hi! I'm Nicole & he's Michael
We have officially surpassed the point in life where we've been together longer than we've been apart. That's what happens with high school sweethearts that beat the odds. Having grown into adults together and starting our own family, we've learned a ton, gone to therapy, and now can recognize how not-normal things sometimes were.

What happens when you take one alcoholic father and one unmedicated bipolar mother who likes pain pills and gambling?
The result is Michael (and his 2 older siblings). He may be conflict-avoidant, but he's an amazing husband and a wonderful father. His parents had the kind of marriage that really should have ended in divorce, but they stuck it out.
He's an IT guy who enjoys video games and Disneyland churros.

Meanwhile, I was being raised by an introverted father who mostly played computer solitaire. He came across as disengaged, but I now think he was just socially awkward, and likely Autistic.
My mother tried her best, but I'm still sorting through it all in therapy. I was her emotional support daughter, and strived to never cause problems.
I don't think the neglect was intentional, it was just how a large chunk of their generation parented.
I'm a sign language interpreter and a recovering perfectionist with ADHD. The creative side has been repressed for far too long so here we are!
The Family
Three boys, toddler to teenager. They're amazing.
The Merry Puppins
Poppy - 4-year-old beagle
Sir Chim Chim Cheroo - 3-year-old pug
